The European Gravitational Observatory (EGO) is an Italian-French Consortium which has been founded by INFN and CNRS to foster European collaboration in the gravitational wave research. EGO operates the gravitational waves interferometer detector Virgo; in particular the construction of “Advanced Virgo”, the upgrade of Virgo, which is targeting a tenfold sensitivity improvement with respect to Virgo, is currently underway at EGO. In this frame, the selected candidate will collaborate with the Suspension Control group at EGO. The Suspension Control group is responsible for the design and development of
electronic hardware and software for controlling the seismic noise attenuation system (SAT). The main duties of the selected candidate include: support design and development, assist production and testing, assist assembly and integration with mechanical sub-systems and support system commissioning and operation
A Master degree (equivalent to Italian “Laurea Specialistica”) in electronic
engineering or equivalent demonstrated background is required. Applicant should have technical competence and some experience in at least one of the following fields: PCB design/analysis with CAD tools; JTAG testing of PCB; FPGA programming-Verilog/VHDL languages with Altera and/or Xilinx design environment; high speed communication bus (PCI Express and/or RapidIO and/or similar); software design & development in C/C++ on Linux platform; real time software design & development; signal processing techniques. In addition, the selected candidate has to demonstrate flexibility (adapting quickly to shifting priorities and requirements) and teamwork capabilities (sharing and letting others participate in own work/project). The position requires a good command of the English language including the ability to read/write technical specifications and/or scientific reports and/or to make oral presentations.

secretarial and administrative activities (i.e. drafting of documents/calls, updating of webpages), schools organization. Corso di formazione teorica gratuita presso struttura ricettiva 4 stelle in Lombardia.
Terminato il periodo di formazione teorica, a partire dal 24 dicembre e fino al 28 febbraio ’14, i candidati raggiungeranno le rispettive strutture alberghiere alle quali saranno assegnati durante la settimana di teoria e effettueranno lo stage pratico.
